NFL Futures

NFL futures bets are wagers made on seasonal results. For example, you can place a futures bet on who will win the NFC or AFC conferences, divisions, or the 2012 Super Bowl. Futures bets offer nice payouts because it’s difficult to predict who will win. If you get it right though, you could end up with a nice payday.

Bodog is our recommended online sportsbook for NFL futures betting. They accept U.S. customers and wagers up to $1000 per bet. Visit our Bodog NFL football page for more information about betting options.

NFL Football Futures Betting Tips

NFL futures bets take all season before they pay out, so serious punters should limit their futures bets to .5% of their bankroll. Don’t tie up a large percentage of your bankroll on a bet that will take all season to pay out.

Some handicappers like to place bets on 2-3 teams if the odds are right. For example, you could bet on a favorite at 7/1, and two other teams at 10/1 and 13/1, and still make a profit if the favorite wins. If either of the other two teams win, you’ll make a larger profit. This also makes it more exciting, giving you more teams to root for during the playoffs.

Some online sportsbooks remove their NFL futures bets just before the season begins, while other leave them up for most of the season – adjusting the odds after each week. If you’re picking a longshot to win the Super Bowl, it’s not a bad idea to wait until a couple of games have been played. Generally odds on big underdogs wont change dramatically after just a couple of games, so this gives you the chance to see if the team is performing well before dropping your cash on them.

For NFL futures betting, the best strategy is to place small bets and save your money for spread bets on individual football games.
